Professor Jayant S Vaidya was born in a family with a long tradition of practising medicine in Goa, India. He specialised in surgical oncology in Mumbai and moved to London in 1996 to pursue clinical practice and research and in breast cancer. He has over 200 original scientific publications in high impact medical journals and has contributed to several books on breast cancer.
He has given over 150 invited talks in scientific conferences. He has featured in Time magazine, Reader's digest and is regularly invited to speak on the BBC. He is a full Professor of Surgery and Oncology at University College London and practises as Consultant Surgeon at the King Edward VII, The London Clinic, St Johns and St Elizabeth, and the Princess Grace Hospital.
