Larry Darter

Author Larry Darter, who writes the Malone Mystery Novels mystery series set in Los Angeles, and the T. J. O'Sullivan mystery series set in Honolulu, knows his way around a detective novel. In fact, he draws from personal experience giving his crime fiction novels unique authenticity.

Darter worked for the U.S. Department of Justice for four years, and then as a police officer for another twenty years in Oklahoma and Texas. Darter, also the son of a police officer, developed an interest in law enforcement from a young age. “I grew up reading crime fiction novels and watching police dramas on television," he says, "I'd always wanted to work in law enforcement." It was as a police officer that Darter learned how dark and warped the world really is, and he draws on that to add realism to his novels.

Apart from writing, Larry is a backpacking enthusiastic, loves the beach, and enjoys traveling.
