Anne Slanina

Anne Slanina is the author of the Adventures of Annie Mouse series of children's books. She is a native of Youngstown, Ohio, where she taught Kindergarten and K-12 Reading in area schools for many years before receiving her Ph.D. from Kent State University. Currently, she resides in Western Pennsylvania, where she is a professor of Early Childhood Education and Reading Education. She specializes in using books for social-emotional growth and development (bibliotherapy) and preparing teachers to instill a love of Social Studies in their classrooms.

Her books are written from the perspective of young children, drawing on her personal experiences as a mother, grandmother, educator, and Route 66 traveler. She encourages parents and teachers to read books WITH children to gain insight into how children think and feel, help them build empathy, and guide them into working through life's every day challenges.

She is a passionate Route 66 enthusiast and travels the Mother Road annually, which is the topic of her companion books: the picture book, Annie Mouse's Route 66 Adventure: A Photo Journal and the chapter book, Annie Mouse's Route 66 Family Vacation. All photographs included in these books are her own originals. She hopes they inspire you to "Get your kicks on Route 66"!

Other books in the series include:

Annie Mouse Meets her Guardian Angel

Annie Mouse Meets a New Friend

Where the Rainbow Touches Ground
