John Arrasjid
John Yani Arrasjid, VCDX-001, is a cloud architect in the Virtustream Office of the CTO. His current work is focused on converged infrastructure solutions. John previously worked at VMware for almost 12 years. There he developed solutions and software for his first six years as a Consulting Architect and later as a Principal Architect, VMware Ambassador in the Field Office of the CTO, and vExpert. John regularly speaks at conferences and related workshops and industry events including VMworld, VMware Partner Exchange, VMware vForum, VMware User Groups (VMUG), Cloud Expo, and the USENIX LISA, ATC and HotCloud conferences.
John was lead architect and chief product owner for the VMware vCloud Architecture Toolkit (vCAT) from 2011 to 2014, and launched this in book form through VMware Press in 2013. The online electronic version is accessible for free at http://www.vmware.com/go/vcat.
John’s first early books in the USENIX Association Short Topics in System Administration series include Deploying the VMware Infrastructure, Foundation for Cloud Computing with VMware vSphere 4, and Cloud Computing with VMware vCloud Director. John has also co-authored the VCDX Boot Camp book that is complimentary to this book.
During his time at VMware, John has developed multiple consulting engagements and conference tutorials that focused on security, performance, and availability of virtualized and cloud infrastructures. John’s earlier work at VMware included development of free backup (vmsnap) and recovery (vmres) tools for virtual machines using snapshot technology, and development of virtual infrastructure workshops on Performance Management, Virtual Security, Disaster Recovery, and Infrastructure Design.
John participated in the initial development of the VCDX program and continues his support with online and onsite workshops (VCDX Tips, VCDX Boot Camp, #vBrownbag Boot Camp Live Online). John also developed and released the VCAP Admin and VCAP Design boot camps.
