Leslie Simpson is director of the Post Memorial Art Reference Library in Joplin, Missouri. She has researched, compiled, and presented information (through books, articles, documentaries, and slide shows) about Joplin's houses and buildings. She helped establish the Joplin Historic Preservation Commission and Main Street Joplin. Her research and records have enabled numerous buildings to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. She has served on many committees related to historic preservation in Joplin and functioned as a volunteer consultant to the City of Joplin, the Missouri Historic Preservation Office, Historic Murphysburg, and the Joplin Historic Preservation Commission. She and her husband Dale have renovated two houses in Joplin's historic Roanoke district.
In her free time, Leslie enjoys doing choreographed ballroom dancing with her husband.
