Will Mathison is an author, illustrator, public speaker, and philanthropist best
known for "The Battles of Liolia" series he began at 10 years old.
In the 4th grade, he was inspired to raise funds in honor of his friend's
little brother who was diagnosed with Leukemia. Over the following several
months, Will wrote and illustrated the story he had been developing in his
imagination since the 2nd grade. At 11 years old he completed "The Last of Kal”,
the first of 5 books in "The Battles of Liolia” series, and donated all proceeds
to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. So far, he has been able to
raise over seven thousand dollars for Relay in honor of all of those battling cancer.
After publishing three more books during Middle School and High School, Will
concluded “The Battles of Liolia” series with the publishing of the fifth and
final book, "The War for Caelum", at the start of 2020. Once again, all the
proceeds from these books were donated to cancer research.
Over the years, Will has spoken at over a dozen schools and community events to
motivate other students to find and pursue their passions. After graduating from
the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and
Economics and a Master of International Policy, Will continues to write short
stories and novels exploring new worlds and characters.
