Michael J Morris

Michael Morris has been an educator for 40 years. He started out as an elementary physical education teacher, but for 27 years he has taught English at the high school level. During that time he also coached baseball, football, and gymnastics. For eight years he was an administrator. Five of those years Michael was a middle school principal.

Michael started writing when he was in college. Then it was mostly poetry, but later he started to write short stories. In the mid eighties he started Along the Way, but with his responsibilities at school and at home with two young children and a wife, he put off finishing the book until recently. When he was accepted to the Fort Wayne section of the National Writing Project, Michael gained the incentive to finish the book.

Michael is a lifelong resident of Indiana. All but eight of those years have been in Fort Wayne. His bachelor's degree in education came from Manchester College, the setting for most of this book. In 2004 he was named Outstanding Alumnus from Manchester for his work in education. He also has masters degrees from Ball State University and IPFW.

Michael interests include golf, genealogy, reading, music, and his family which include his wife, Michele; his daughter, Kristin, and her husband Spencer; his grandson, Coen; his son, Stephen, and his wife Tiffany; and their two dogs Sophie, the psycho mixed breed, and Woodie, the cute but stubborn basset hound.
