Jerry Crotty agreed to work on this book because when he and his family moved to Summerville, they found it hard to locate the community's story all in one place.

Convinced that the more people learn about the space and heritage they share, the better they'll protect and preserve what makes it special, so he and a few friends neighbors, area organizations and the local museum collected vintage images and assembled this picture of what Summerville was once like and why so many people like to call it home.
