Hard work, perseverance, and intelligent decisions making are three attributes that have defined Robin Sullivan’s business philosophy and led to success in every endeavor she has attempted. In the 1980’s she was hired as a grunt programmer and in three short years became the president of a software company, which she grew to thirty-five people and five million dollars in revenue. After negotiating a merger of that company, she founded Spectrum Design, an advertising agency that helped more than one hundred and fifty high technology companies increase their sales and expand their market share. Today, Robin is immersed in one of the fastest changing and most challenging industries—publishing.
Robin has successfully performed in all three branches of publishing. As a self-publisher, she propelled her husband Michael Sullivan to the top of multiple Amazon fantasy lists, selling nearly 40,000 books in just four months. In the small press world, she formed her own company, Ridan Publishing representing the highest quality award winning titles by authors such as Nathan Lowell, Marshall Thomas, and Leslie Ann Moore. As for big-six traditional publishing, she leveraged Michael’s self-published success and received a six-figure, three-book offer from Orbit Books, the fantasy imprint of Hachette Book Group (#3 publisher in the world).
Robin believes in giving back to the writing community through free lectures on the business side of publishing, participating on panels at writing conferences, and providing tips and industry insights on her blog, Write2Publish. She is planning on writing a series of shorts covering the various aspects of publishing and then turning that series into a full length offer.
