Frank Elliott Sisson II
BACKGROUND
Frank was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, although his family had long time roots in New Bedford. His family also has a history in the whaling business and his great grandfather was a whaling master, captain of the Whaleship Milo. Frank grew up in a number of different cities from New England to the Deep South. When his father died, the family returned to New Bedford and then to Woods Hole, Massachusetts, where Frank graduated from Lawrence High School in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
WEST POINT, AIR UNIVERSITY AND RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
Frank is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, with a BS in Engineering. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air University, Institute of Technology, Dayton, Ohio, with an MS Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and he is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, with an MS Degree in Management.
MILITARY SERVICE
He went into the US Air Force after graduation from West Point and earned his USAF pilot certificate. He flew combat missions in Korea and Vietnam. He was assigned to Research and Development Programs in between Korea and Vietnam, as a Program Manager in aircraft acquisition programs and also as an Engineering Director of aircraft modification projects for airborne research programs.
FOLLOWING RETIREMENT FROM MILITARY SERVICE
Frank spent several years in marketing assignments for companies doing business in the aircraft field. Some of this was domestic and some international. After several years following retirement from the military service, Frank went into business for himself, and founded a successful marketing and consulting business in Wichita, Kansas, in the aviation field. In 2005, he decided to retire from all business activity and sold his business to his former associates. He has since decided to write about subjects of interest and specifically about his great grandfather’s experiences while whaling.
FAMILY
Frank lives with his wife, Anne, in Wichita, Kansas. This is where his prior business is located and he still has interests in the firm. They have four children and eleven grandchildren. Three of their grown children live in New England, and one lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
