Chris R. Pownall

Hello, I'm Chris Pownall, a retired 'Industrial Marketing Director' turned author. I have been very fortunate to have experienced an interesting life, with great opportunities to travel the world.

I grew up in the Cheshire village of Bosley in the 1950/60's.

Following my engineering apprenticeship I joined the Merchant Navy serving with the famous Blue Funnel shipping line as an 'Assistant Engineering Officer'. My travels took me to the Far East including Shanghai at the height of the 'Cultural Revolution'.

Details of my trip are included in my first book 'Funny How Things Work Out' including all the spicy bits from my exploits ashore in such places as Japan, Singapore, Philipines etc.

I had the priveledge of a long career with the James Walker Group latterly specialising in the global Metallurgical Industries.

My second book entitled 'Onwards and Upwards' is a sequel to my memoirs plus some of my opinions about the quality of life today compared with the mid 20th century.

I enjoy making people laugh as well as cringe and I trust you will enjoy both my books. Any feedback on my website would be gratefully received.
