Dave Lewis

Dave Lewis is an award-winning writer, poet and photographer. He is a full-time writer based in Pontypridd, south Wales. He also likes to cycle and walk his dog.

Dave has been widely published all over the world in a number of literary magazines and websites. He has published many books and his work includes crime thrillers, poetry, prose, short stories, photography, haiku, travel, comedy and rugby. He has been twice runner-up in the 'Rhys Davies Short Story Competition'. His poetry collection 'Going Off Grid' was a finalist in 'The Wishing Shelf Book Awards' 2018. He received critical acclaim for his first three novels, a crime thriller trilogy set in Wales and Africa: Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Raising Skinny Elephants and iCommand. His gritty, Cymru noir thriller, 'The Welsh Man', set in Wales and around the UK has been praised by many of Wales' best crime writers and film companies have shown an interest...

In 2007 Dave set up and organised the first ever 'Welsh Poetry Competition' - an international English language poetry competition aimed at encouraging the wealth of creative writing talent that exists in Wales but is overlooked by the arts establishment. It soon became the largest in Wales.

He has written content for many websites; was web producer for the 'BBC Wales Scrum V' website, and used to run four hugely successful rugby sites with 'Rivals'. He ran the highly successful 'Official Ponty Town' website and forum for 27 years and has also written newspaper columns for local newspapers

He also runs 'Poetry Publisher' - a poetry book self-publishing company which looks to get great poets into print that have been ignored by the mainstream publishing houses.

In 2005, he cycled 'Land's End to John O'Groats' for Ty Hafan, a childrens charity in Wales. Then in 2016, he cycled around Wales (for Prostate Cancer UK) in order to raise awareness of his new 'Wales Trails' / LEJOG-lite project.

In 2019 he set up 'Writers of Wales' - an A to Z online resource highlighting the best authors (both current and throughout history) in Welsh literature.

In 2020 he set up the 'Maya Poetry Book Awards', to help promote self-published poets and indie publishers, which is already a great success.

An important and timely release was 'Algorithm', a poetry collection that highlights many of the problems facing humanity in the world today and the dystopian direction society is sleepwalking into.

His latest book is 'Wooden Spoon' - a romp through the rugby world that describes Welsh rugby's demise, offers solutions to the problems as well as a sensitive, yet hilarious look, at male mental health.
