Steve Liskow is a former English teacher, and has also acted, directed, produced, or designed for nearly 100 theatrical productions.
He has published sixteen novels, six set in central Connecticut and featuring PI Zach Barnes, a former Hartford police officer. The Kids Are All Right, the fourth Barnes novel, was a finalist for the Shamus Award for Best Indie Novel in 2015. The Whammer Jammers, featuring two Hartford police officers who often work with Barnes, is set in the world of Roller Derby and was a quarter-finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Blood On The Tracks introduces Chris "Woody" Guthrie, a guitar-playing PI in Detroit. The book won Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest Self-Published Novel Awards. Many of his stories feature contemporary issues such as shootings in a public school, teen trafficking, and substance abuse.
He has also published over seventy short stories, earning an Edgar nomination, the Black Orchid Novella Award (Twice), and four Honorable Mentions for the Al Blanchard Story Award. He contributed to the Derringer Award winning anthology Murder, Neat and the Anthony Award winning collection Crime Hits Home. Many of these stories appear in his collection, Sweet Ladies of Death.
Liskow is also a freelance fiction editor and conducts writing workshops in central Connecticut. He lives with his wife Barbara and a rescued Tuxedo cat.
