James Wharton

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and trace my lineage to the Revolutionary War and Valley Forge. That family history and two other unique experiences enhanced my interest in writing. The first was leaving home at fourteen and working three years as a page in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC. The second was spending four years in the military, one of which was in the Viet Nam War where I attained the rank of Captain. My background as an Adjunct Professor of Economics and Marketing combined with experience in aviation and archaeology and an extensive study of history provide a platform from which I draw material. I attended Capitol Page School in the Library of Congress and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis. My uncle, the American poet Will Wharton, was also an influence. I married my childhood sweetheart, Carol Jo Simon, whom I loved before we ever met.
