Carson A. Pierce

Writing as Carson A. Pierce, Jim "Cap" Caplan draws on nearly 30 years of Forest Service experience in wild America to bring readers hard-hitting novels of conflict and passion in American's outdoors.

His novels' main character, Mill Meacham, is symbolic of the post-modern Forest Service, born in the 1970s and struggling to come of age in the 21st century. The novels are gritty, satirical, and use strong metaphors for abuse, betrayal and, ultimately, triumph.

The plots make some people uncomfortable because while the books are written to entertain, they also frankly question 21st century conservation and the challenges facing America's wild future.
