Merisa Parson Davis

Merisa Parson Davis is a cousin of Dr. Bill Cosby. She grew up in a "real life" Cosby family, with four girls and a boy, in a home full of joking and laughter, so much like the "Huxtables". (Friends and family would often teasingly refer to her as "Denise".)

She is a 2008 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, where she earned her Master's Degree in Theological Studies. She attends First Redeemer Church in Cumming, Georgia, pastored by Dr. Richard Lee. There, she serves as a Bible teacher, youth worker, and Women’s Conference speaker.

Merisa is a 1986 graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. (Founded by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell.) There, she studied Television Broadcasting, Journalism, and Christian Counseling. She is a former news anchor and reporter for WVIR-TV NBC-29, in her hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Merisa has worked in youth ministry since 1998. Recently, she helped create Liberty University’s new African-American Worship Studies program, which is scheduled to begin classes in the Spring semester of 2011. She is a guest lecturer in the Liberty Baptist Seminary’s Women’s Ministry Program.

Merisa has been married for 17 years to Marc R. Davis, who is the owner of the Davis State Farm Insurance Agency in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She is the proud mother of two children, Charissa Joy, and Marc Isaac.

Merisa’s current book on the African-American family, “Bill Cosby Is Right: But What Should the Church Be Doing About It?” was published in 2010. She plans to pursue her Ph.D in the near future.
