Raymond Koekemoer

Raymond Koekemoer started reading about healthy aging in his twenties, convinced that an early, disciplined start would pay off later. For years, it did. Then, at fifty-four, his body began to struggle: painful constipation, a constant sense of dryness, heavy headaches, and fine lines that seemed to appear overnight. He was drinking plenty of water. None of it seemed to help.

So he went back to something he had first explored in the early 2000s: Ayurveda's quiet emphasis on warmth, rhythm, and a little gentle fat. Combined with what modern physiology says about how the body actually uses fluid, those small, practical changes made the difference he had been looking for.

That experience became The Hydrated Gut Project, and the books that grew out of it: The Hydration Trap and The Desert Gut Cookbook. Raymond writes in plain language for adults over 50, from decades of study, trying things on himself, and watching what happens. He is not a doctor, and his books are educational, never a replacement for your own doctor.

He lives in South Africa, where, at fifty-four, he still skateboards.
