Elliot T. Berkman

Elliot Berkman, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Oregon. He teaches introductory psychology, social psychology, and social neuroscience at all levels of the curriculum, always with a focus on the real-world applicability of psychological research. He is co-author of the introductory psychology text, Psychological Science, 7th ed (W. W. Norton), and author of A Conceptual Guide to Statistics Using SPSS (SAGE). Dr. Berkman is also an accomplished researcher in the fields of social psychology, social neuroscience, and health psychology. The focus of his research is to translate basic social psychological and neuroscientific insights into practical tools for behavior change. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed papers, been consistently funded by the NIH for over a decade and been awarded the Janet Taylor Spence Award for Distinguished Early Career Contributions from the Association of Psychological Science and the early career award from the Social-Personality Health Network.
