Thank you for visiting my author page! I am a small scale commercial worm farmer and also raise fruit, vegetables and hay on my farm. I started with just a couple of pounds of worms as a way to reduce my waste output and increase the value of my compost. Well, one worm led to another and now I have several hundred pounds of worms. Beware: this could happen just as easily to you! Worms are inexplicably addicting and their poop works wonders on everything green.

I did find during my own learning process that a LOT of information about how to raise worms was either false or blatantly contradictory. I have done more than my fair share of research into this area and was using this knowledge to teach vermicomposting classes when several students asked if I would ever write a book about it. The classes I teach frequently run long because the topic is actually very interesting and fun to learn about. So the book came about as a way to get people to stop hanging around my farm for so long so I could get my work done! Okay, okay, that AND because there was more to the world of worms than can effectively be covered in just one short class, especially when so much of that time is spent laughing!

I cover a ton of worm myths in the book: yes they can eat meat, and citrus, and basically anything organic except too much salt and oil. No you don't need to spend a hundred dollars on a commercial worm bin. No, you do NOT want to drill any holes in your bin. Ever. It's all in there and then some along with a healthy dollop of humor and even more common sense. It was past time for a new worm book and this, my new friend, is destined to be your personal favorite! Might as well just buy an extra for a friend today!

Thanks and Happy Worming!
