Peter J. Morden

Peter Morden is Senior Pastor at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Leeds, England. Cornerstone is a multi-congregational church serving different communities across the city. He is also Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Spurgeon's College, London, where he was previously on the staff for ten years, an Associate Tutor at St Hild College, Yorkshire, and an Honorary Research Fellow at Bristol Baptist College.

In 2010 he completed PhD research on the spirituality of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the foremost popular preacher of the Victorian age. He has written 'C.H. Spurgeon: The People's Preacher' and 'John Bunyan: The People's Pilgrim', both published by CWR. In addition, he was historical consultant for the award winning docudrama 'C.H. Spurgeon: The People's Preacher' and has written and presented a Christian study group resource which draws on the film, entitled 'Growing Together with C.H. Spurgeon - The People's Preacher'. He has also written a large number of academic articles and chapters in books. In 2011 he was elected a fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Peter loves the local church, and his most recent book, 'The Message of Discipleship: Following Jesus in Today's World', published by IVP in 2018, aims to equip Christians to follow Jesus more closely. Peter enjoys running, walking, watching football and spending time with family and friends. He was happily married to Anne for 26 years until her death from cancer in June 2018. He has two children, Rachel and Joseph. In November 2020 he married Cheryl and they make their home in Adel, north Leeds.
