Michael J. Maddigan

Michael J. Maddigan has been active in the fields of local history and historic preservation for nearly thirty years and currently serves as the vice-chairman of the Middleborough Historical Commission. Born and raised in Middleborough, he is the author of several works of local history including The Famous Trotting Ground: A History of Middleborough's Fall Brook Driving Park, Nemasket River Herring: A History, Representatives of the Great Cause; Images of America: Middleborough; South Middleborough: A History; Star Mill: History & Architecture; Elysian Fields: An Illustrated History of Rock Cemetery and Lakeville's King Philip Tavern. He is the owner of Recollecting Nemasket, a small publishing press devoted to local history, and the author of a newspaper column and blog of the same name. His work has appeared in numerous publications. He is presently at work on a history of the early Brockton Fair.
