THE DOCTOR AND THE PSYCHIC

AUTHOR'S BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Dr. Mary Armstrong, a former college classmate, bragged to the author that she had been accurately read by a REAL Psychic. The author, Dr. Leon Curry pooh-poohed that possibility. Mary dared him to call her. Responding to the dare, he made a telephone call to Greta Alexander in Illinois with the intent of proving her a fake and reading her the riot act. That telephone call changed his whole life. He was dumbfounded. She tuned into him, and his family, instantly providing detaled information unknown outside his family. His curiosity was insatiable. Subsequent telephone calls revealed many parallel interests. Greta visited his practice in Georgia where she demonstrated her ability to perceive medical problems psychically, in person, or over a thousand miles via telephone.

Dr. Curry evolved thru skepticism, to curious, to experimenter, to researcher, and finally to advocate and educator as he explored psychic medical diagnosis with nationally known Psychic Greta Alexander. After confirming her ability to "diagnose" his patients' illnesses, in lay language, in his office, hospital, and dialysis centers he pursued formal scientific studies of her talent. Greta and Dr. Curry participated in double blind experiments at the Rhine Research Center on the Duke University campus, the Medical University of South Carolina, and the Medical College of Georgia.

His recently published book, THE DOCTOR AND THE PSYCHIC, describes the exciting, enlightening, and amusing adventures they encounter as they explore Greta's psychic talent, and promote the further study of psychic phenomena and its potential as an additional diagnostic tool for physicians.

Leon E. Curry, M.D. attended college and medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia graduating with an M.D. degree in 1962. He was a Charter Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice (1971) and consecutively recertified four times. He was a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (1972), and a Charter Member of the Georgia Society of Nephrology (1991). He held offices in the Medical Association of Georgia, Flying Physicians Association, Georgia Medical Care Foundation, and Rotary Club. He served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a member of the (international) Parapsychological Association having been nominated by Dr. J.B. Rhine and endorsed byDr. Ramakrishna Rao in 1978.

He interned at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu (1962-63), and attended the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and the U.S. Army School of Aviation Medicine (1963). He served as a U.S. Army Flight Surgeon at Fort Bragg, North Carolina (1963-65) and in Ban Me Thuot, Viet Nam (1965-66).

After his Army duty he entered private practice in his home town, Metter, Georgia. He practiced Family Medicine and Nephrology from 1966 to 2001. Initially he had a broad medical practice including obstetrics and general surgery. He pioneered treating ADHD hyperactive children (1969) and developed the first rural hemodialysis center in Georgia in 1972. Later his practice focused on hemodialysis management of renal failure in Metter, Statesboro, and Vidalia, Georgia.

During the Iranian hostage crisis (1980) he joined the Georgia Air National Guard/U.S. Air Force Reserve, was commissioned a Lt. Colonel, and served as Squadron Flight Surgeon with the 165th Tactical Airlift Squadron. He was promoted to Colonel and became Flight Surgeon/Commander of the 165th TAC Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

He loved flying. He soloed in 1961, and earned a commercial, multi-engine, instrument-rated (civilian) pilot license during his 33 years of flying. He played trumpet and led a dance band (the"Hypodermics") for 25 years. He is an active "ham" radio operator licensed in 1951 and holds an Extra Class license (W4TYM).

He and his wife Helen have two grown sons, Stephen and Chris, and one MinPin dog, Duke. They reside at 415 W. Willow Lake Drive, Metter, GA 30439
