Nancy Zellers is a bead designer and a writer who truly enjoys creating amazing beadworks ‘one little bead at a time’. She takes seed beads and turns them into something different, bigger and totally unexpected using her analytical perspective and software design training.
Her first exposure to beadwork was in the ‘70s when she explored loomed beadwork and needlepoint. In the ‘90s, she took several art classes and started producing sculptural works with seed beads. These sculptures have appeared in over 28 local and national contemporary exhibitions.
Nancy acquired new techniques and expanded her view of the bead world through classes with many leading beadwork teachers. Branching out of the solitary artist’s studio, she began designing jewelry pieces and developing instructional material. She has published over 35 articles in magazines and books, appearing in Bead&Button, Beadwork and Step-by-Step Beads magazines as well as several Interweave Press and Lark books. She has been teaching on the local and national level for more than 10 years.
Nancy loves strong colors and clean lines, designing beadwork that is extremely wearable. She can usually be found in her hot pink and lime green studio in Denver, sewing one little bead to another little bead. Contact Nancy at www.nzbeads.com.
