Erik Martin

Erik credits his passion for stories to two things: his parents and comic books. When he was a child, his mother read to him constantly. His father modeled reading for pleasure. His older friends loved comics, so, to be included, Erik taught himself to read from comics. Books became a lifelong love affair. In 2000, he had so many of them at home, he had no choice but to open a bookstore to manage them all (the now defunct In A Bind Books in Lakewood, Ohio). He also worked in a public library and spent time as a slush reader for Dark Recesses Press. He began publishing under the In A Bind Books imprint in 2011 and now has seven novels for younger readers and numerous short stories in print. Additionally, Erik volunteers as a board member for the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild (SDWEG) and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
