Betty Peacock discovered at an early age the power of the written word. As a teenager, she would sit for hours at a time, writing letters to her grandmother. It wasn't until 2005 that Betty decided to try her hand at writing professionally.
Books and a genuine love of learning are an integral part of Betty Peacock's life. "I learned at a very early age that I could lose myself in a book. Books allowed me to have adventures and to dream dreams. I could go to faraway places and see things that I had never seen. I could be whomever I wanted to be and could achieve whatever I wanted to achieve. Books didn't limit me or my imagination. They allowed me to go beyond what was real."
Betty's first children's picture book, Can I have a Monkey?, was published in June of 2009. What child hasn't stood in front of the monkey cage at the zoo and secretly contemplated the idea of taking the monkey home with them?
Can I have a Monkey? will take your child on an adventure that will long be remembered after the story is read, the day is done and the book is put away on the shelf.
