Ron Lawruk

I was born in Ottawa,Canada. My mother was French-Canadian and my father was Ukrainian.I spend my winters in Mesa, Az. Writing is my passion. My trilogy -including A Spy Too Close, Alliance of Terror and If Words Could Kill- was a product of 32 years in the Intelligence business with CSE, Canada and a three year stint at the National Security Agency (NSA) in Maryland, USA. I also spent three weeks in 1980 on a Canadian destroyer during a NATO Exercise Teamwork-80.

I an currently writing my autobiography about the 32 years I worked for the Communications Security Establishment(CSEC),the Canadian intelligence organization.I hope to have it published by 2013.Included in this novel is the time during a visit to the Canadian high Arctic site at Alert when I inadvertently petted a wolf thinking it was a husky. I checked my fingers to make sure they were all there. Also,while visiting London, England in the late 1970s, I spoke briefly to Jaclyn Smith of Charlie's Angels fame and stood beside Jacqueline Kennedy while reading the Guttenburg Bible at the British Museum.During Teamwork-80, I flew on a helicopter from our Canadian Destroyer with the Admiral of the US Fleet and landed on the US nuclear powered aircraft carrier Nimitz.

My most recent work published in 2011 is a short story book "Murder in the Resort" a serious and humorous look at life in a melange of pathos, real life events, humour and sports.

In 2011, my wife Merla and I published a true life Biography, "For Love and Country, A Canadian Soldier's Story" about the trials and tribulations of Private Ted Patrick, who served in Italy and Holland during WW2 and fought Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for more than 65 years. We visited all of the Normandy WW2 sites to get a feel of what the Allies faced on D Day.

I have traveled to more than 60 countries in the world, on most of the Continents. Read my blogs on the Rhine cruise and Normandy.

I enjoy golf-with three hole in ones so far--- and participated in the US Senior Olympics in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2001. Lately, I enjoy hiking in Arizona where I reside during the winter months. I also enjoy square and ballroom dancing, entertaining my American and Canadian friends, attending plays at the Hale Theater in Mesa, and playing Texas Hold'Em with some success.

I am a diehard fan of Manchester United in the English Soccer League and a fervent fan of Ronaldo on the Real Madrid team in the Spanish League.

Merla and I have four daughters and one son as well as five grandsons.
