My name is Corneel Booysen. We relocated from South Africa to America in 2003. During the period of adjusting to a new culture, we joined a religious organization.
Being an expatriate has its benefits and its drawbacks. While we are initially not always able to discern cultural nuances and linguistic subtleties, we have the benefit of a frame of reference that was molded in a different set of circumstances. Our innocence might make us vulnerable to exploitation, but it also serves as the bedrock of integrity that keeps our moral compass showing true in the midst of the storm. The very existence of our two realities - that of our home country and the place where we now live, allow us to reflect, compare and ultimately unravel the truth from every situation.
When I am not writing I love to spend time with my wonderful wife and three children.
