Krishna Pillai

Krishna Pillai was born in 1948 and had his schooling in India. He moved to the UK in 1964 as an engineering apprentice and was awarded a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aston in Birmingham in 1972 and received the IMI prize. His PhD was awarded by the same university in 1975. After post-doctoral work on solar energy at University College, Cardiff he joined the Coal Utilisation Research Laboratory and worked on clean coal technologies for the utilisation of coal. He was awarded the Bone-Wheeler Medal of the Institute of Fuel for his paper on gas combustion. He moved to Sweden in 1984 when he was recruited by ABB and was eventually responsible for the global sales of clean coal power plants. He moved to Kobe in Japan in 1996 to lead ABB's joint ventures for large gas turbines and for industrial steam turbines. When Alstom acquired ABB's power generation business he was appointed Country President of the Alstom Group in India in 2000.

In 2006 he moved to Görlitz in Germany to help Siemens structure the industrial steam turbine business acquired from Alstom. In 2009 he returned to Sweden. He is currently President of KKP Management Solutions, and spends his time writing and on selected management consultancy assignments. He serves as an Independent Director on the Board of the Desein - Indure Group.

He is married with two sons.
