John Pratt Bingham

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I attended Willamette University during the turbulent 60s. Upon graduation, I attended Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. While there I spent a year as an intern for Senator Phillip Hart (D-Mich.) studying church and society issues. I served St. Paul's Episcopal Church in San Diego and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Monrovia, California.

A series of dreams changed my life and pointed me in the direction of becoming a marriage and family therapist. I obtained a master's degree in psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles, studied at the C. G. Jung Institute in Los Angeles, and was licensed by the State of California to be a therapist in 1980. While in private practice in Carlsbad, California, I wrote my first book, Inner Treasure. In 1994, I moved north and opened the Samaritan Counseling Center of Greater Sacramento. I served as the Executive Director until 2001 when I returned to private practice. Upon returning to private practice, I wrote God and Dreams: Is There A Connection?

Fully retired, I now write fiction. The historical novel, Hangtown, was released as an ebook in 2015.

I am married to Barbara Lynn Dunn Bingham. Together we have 6 children and 9 grandchildren.
