Kate Monro was born the daughter of a journalist. A nothing education preceded a career that has taken in spells with the rock band Blur, DAZED magazine, experiential agency Cunning and more recently creative agency RKCR Y&R. It wasn't until she completed a copy writing course, that she discovered a love of words and editing text.

A light bulb moment on an LA beach followed and as a result, she set out to ask men and women to reveal their most intimate truth - their virginity loss stories. The response was overwhelming and the result is a groundbreaking and personal insight into the beating heart of modern sexuality.

An enthusiastic and articulate speaker on her subject she has also caught the media's attention via her blog, 'The Virginity Project'. Writing about her unusual journey as she interviews strangers about their sex lives, she is regularly asked to contribute on virginity related issues in the media. As a result, 'The Virginity Project' blog now receives virginity loss stories from all over the world.

'Losing It: How we popped our cherry over the last 80 years' is Kate Monro's first book. Upon completion, she plans to take herself and her interviewing skills to the USA in a bid to meet Americans everywhere and ask them the question, 'So, how did you lose yours?'

In October 2011, the book became a play at The Tristan Bates Theatre in London's Covent Garden.
