Steve Cox

Steve Cox is an award-winning illustrator and an extremely versatile artist who has completed numerous projects ranging from picture books to non-fiction and has worked with many high-profile publishers.

Steve has the ability to combine painstaking attention to detail with more than a dash of humour, his aim being always to make books and learning enticing to children of all ages.

Recent projects include illustrating four picture books written by author Tee Dobinson, featuring Bella ‘The Tower Bridge Cat’ for the iconic London Tower Bridge. Steve’s illustrations and the characters he designed for the books are currently being used as the focus of a hugely successful visitor attraction at the bridge which is in its second year. The Tower Bridge Cat books have won two awards which are growing in popularity and selling alongside an impressive range of merchandise.

Other notable achievements include an award-winning collaboration with Jonathan Emmett to illustrate ‘Pigs Might Fly!’ (published by Puffin) and ‘The Treasure of Captain Claw’ (published by Orchard). ‘The Cat and the Mouse and the Runaway Train’, written by Peter Bently (published by Hodder) has also proven to be very popular with parents and younger readers. He is also particularly proud of the elaborate pop-ups he has worked on with the cardboard engineer, Nick Denchfield.

Steve lives and works in both Kingston upon Thames and the beautiful county of Cornwall.
