Jean-Baptiste Bourgery

Passionate about stories and an explorer at heart, Jean-Baptiste BOURGERY embodies a writer who weaves bridges between nature, legends, and the inner quest. He draws his inspiration during his expeditions, from the majestic forests of Brocéliande to the famous GR20 trail in Corsica, via the mysteries of the Vallée des Merveilles or the charm of the Miroir aux Fées. For Jean-Baptiste, each landscape carries a story, and each walker can become its storyteller.

An author nourished by love and education

Proud father of two grown children and happy companion of a “fairy Viviane in the flesh,” he is the deputy principal of a college in the south of France. There he cultivates a listening and understanding of the world of young people, which is reflected in stories adapted to all ages.

His stories oscillate between thrilling adventures and introspective explorations.

His first attempt was a play called The Poisoned Gift. Written in collaboration with his CM2 students in 2003/2004, combining creativity and collective spirit. Today, this play is being reborn to inspire other troupes and theater enthusiasts.

In The Secret of the Serpent Woman, The Mage's Prophecy and Sapiens Technicus, his young heroes, the Tinkers, invite the reader to solve enigmas anchored in mythical places. They combine the wonder of legends with reflection on history and cultural heritage. This trilogy does not just entertain: it teaches, enriches and awakens curiosity.

With Briefs of Life on the Fra Li Monti, the author offers a moving and vibrant testimony of his crossing of the GR20, celebrating the raw beauty of nature and the deep bonds that unite travelers sharing the same path. This story, both sincere and poetic, speaks to all those who seek to reconnect with themselves through contact with the elements.

In Les Lueurs dormantes, he ventures further into the twists and turns of the human soul, tackling universal themes such as memory, loss and hope, while being part of an enchanting setting where Nice and its streets rub shoulders characters with a moving destiny.

At the same time, he co-wrote The Cocoon and the Thorns with Renée Daniel, an intimate work which immerses us in the memories of a youth from Nice. Through this story, Jean-Baptiste emotionally reveals the memories and traditions of a bygone era, between the small joys of everyday life and historical tragedies.

Jean-Baptiste Bourgery likes to say that his books are traveling companions and “vectors of escape”. For him, each story is an invitation to take a step towards the imagination, to venture into worlds where the reader becomes an explorer.
