Paul Salmona

Born in 1955, Paul Salmona is director of the musée d'art et d'histoire du judaïsme in Paris since 2013. He directed the the Louvre auditorium (1992-2005), before creating the direction of cultural development of the Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (rescue archaeology) in 2005, which he directed until 2013.

Hispanist by training, he notably organized the conferences: “Archeology of Judaism in France and in Europe” with Laurence Sigal (2010); “Saint Louis and the Jews” with Juliette Sibon (2015); “Antisemitism in France - 19th-21st century” with Dominique Schnapper and Perrine Simon-Nahum (2016); “Jews and Protestants” with Patrick Cabanel and Thomas Maissen (2017); “Judaism: A Blind Spot in the National Narrative” with Claire Soussen (2019); “Archeology of Judaism in Europe” with Philippe Blanchard and Amélie Sagasser (2022).

He is the author of "Archéologie du judaïsme en France" (La Découverte, 2021).
