Simon Lewis

Simon Lewis was brought up in Wales and Scotland. He studied art at Goldmiths College in London, travelled for years, then wound up working as a guidebook researcher in Asia, which he did for 20 years.

His first novel GO (1999), a travel thriller about backpackers, was written in a village in the Himalayas. It has been translated into German, Italian, Turkish and Swedish.

His second novel, BAD TRAFFIC (2008), is a crime thriller about people smugglers, featuring jaded Chinese cop, Inspector Jian. The book has been published in the UK and the US and translated into German, French, Swedish, Italian, Japanese and Turkish. In 2009 it was nominated for the LA Times Book of the Year Award and for the French SNCF prize for crime fiction.

His third travel thriller, BORDER RUN, was published in April 2012 in the US and the UK.

As a screenwriter, Simon has worked for Potboiler Films, Cloud 8 and Channel 4, among others. He is the writer of science fiction film, THE ANOMALY, heist thriller TIGER HOUSE, travel thriller JET TRASH, and family film FOUR KIDS AND IT.

His graphic novel FLESH AND BLOOD (drawn by Chris Geary) came out in 2024.

His proudest writing moments are being praised by Elmore Leonard for BAD TRAFFIC ('suspense that never loses its grip') and writing dialogue for Michael Caine to perform as the 'it' in FOUR KIDS AND IT (he nailed it).

He spends most of his time in the UK, China or Japan.
