Dominique GRISAY (born 3 February 1959) , the son of a Dutch mother and a Belgian father, was raised deep in the heart of Wallonia. Sent at the âge of 8 to a Public prep school in England, he learned English and the fact that the world was much wider than his small town.
This probably explains why, at the end of his law studies in Belgium (ULB and UCL) (1983), he took advantage of the opportunity given to him (in the form of a nice scholarship) to live and study both international and European laws in the Netherlands (Leyden University).
His work at the Asser Institute (The Hague) gave him the opportunity to work on Arbitration matters, and to write and/or translate texts in International Private Law and Arbitration.
Having returned to Belgium, he started his bar activities. He also quickly rejoined his Alma Mater (UCL) to work as a researcher in European law for some 6 years. During this period, Dominique Grisay wrote updates on EU law (DAOR - Chronique de droit européen), various other contributions (DAOR, Cahiers de droit européen) and appeared as a speaker in many conferences.
In the following years, Dominique Grisay started his academic career as a professor at the University of Paris VI, as well as in other Business Schools. At present he is lecturer in the HEFF Business school in Brussels, as well as in the University of Bordeaux.
In parallel to these activities, Dominique Grisay has developed activities as an arbitrator in CEPANI, ICC and ICSID.
He has written his first book (on Belgium Competition law) in 2006 (Larcier - second edition foreseen for 2019) and has directed various other publications as operational directof of the "Performance Publique" collection (Larcier).
