Author Biography

Russell C. Arslan, retired University economics professor with entrepreneurial portfolio describes himself as an internationalist bent on geopolitical and environmental issues. Just as importantly, he is a storyteller who will entertain you and stretch your surrounding awareness. Having traveled extensively in Asia, Central and South America and Africa for more than five decades, he brings his knowledge and experiences into his writings. Political and scientific themes, may they be as contentious as global warming or nuclear proliferation or as threatening as terrorism. With relationships characterizing his principles he tells factual stories with a twist, not action figure sensationalism. In his university career he acted as a teacher, not an impersonal academic who professed knowledge of subject material. His love and passion for political economy and his mantra, “you cannot be a better teacher than a person,” characterizes his activism, his personal and professional integrity and his firm stance on contemporary political issues. He states, “The limits of your success are the limits of your own experiences and knowledge base also applies to storytelling.” The commonality of teaching and writing has formulated a postulate that he lives by, “you can’t develop a story or a character that isn’t familiar. You can’t teach or write what you don’t feel or know.” His books are filled with information and an agenda for attacking social ills. They are not as he says, mindless entertainment, they stimulate and entertain at the same time. He lives with his wife, Janis in Bel-Air California. His quest for adventure and knowledge has had them traveling all over the globe for insights and story lines. At the first printing of All In they are in South Africa doing research for another novel. Upon his return he will continue his writings, his entrepreneurial activities and his sponsorship of students and his mentoring endeavors.
