Jean Jocelyn was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He is a board member of the Haitian American Association for Advancement (HAAFA). Jocelyn writes from personal experiences about the problems in Haiti, and discusses at great length the issues concerning the suffering and the plight of the average Haitian. He has been active in programs and an organization geared to helping children, youth and the Haitian Community for much of his life. He has received numerous awards for volunteering work helping various non-profit organizations. As a Non-commission Officer in the US Air Force, he received the Humanitarian Service Medal for volunteer work in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo.
