Laurence Cox

Activist, teacher and writer Laurence Cox works with social movements remaking the world from below. He’s been part of different popular struggles, counter cultures and alternative projects in several countries over a few decades.

Laurence has been a street musician, kitchen porter, kindergarten organiser, translator and alternative media editor; taught activists, care workers and meditators; worked in special education and run wood-fired showers for the masses at camping events. He co-edits the social movements journal Interface (free online) and collaborates with the Ulex activist training project. He’s also a professor of sociology at the National University of Ireland Maynooth.

Laurence has published about fifteen books about social movements, Buddhism and other ways of changing the world. A few of the books - and everything else he writes - can be found free online.
