Phil Rowlands is a retired headteacher turned author. In 2011 Phil published 'A Christmas Carol Revisited' an updated adaptation of Dickens classic Christmas tale. It was extremely well received both by the public and other authors. It is set in Manhattan and on the 19th December 2012 the Entertainments Committee of the New York City Bar Association sponsored a Concert Reading of 'A Christmas Carol Revisited'in the Great Hall in The City Bar Association Building, Manhattan. All proceeds were donated to a children's charity. The novel has since been renamed as 'A Manhattan Ghost Story'.

Secretary of the Committee, Frances Scanlon, declared the evening to be a great success and described 'A Christmas Carol Revisited' as powerful and poignant'.
