Jennifer Cole Phillips is a designer, educator, and author. She is Director of the MFA Graphic Design program at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Her design work has been recognized by Graphis, Print, The Art Director’s Clubs of New York and Metropolitan Washington, AIGA 50, and STA100, among others. She is co-author (with Ellen Lupton) of Graphic Design The New Basics (Second Edition); and co-creator (with Ellen Lupton) of the popular Skillshare course, Graphic Design Basics: Core Principles for Visual Design. Professor Phillips earned her MFA and BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She is the recipient of the MICA Trustees Fellowship Award for Excellence in Teaching, and a Sappi Ideas that Matter grant for a social impact project with Johns Hopkins University providing puberty education tools for girls in Baltimore.
