Robert Lawrence McMurrer was born on June 1, 1981 in Indianapolis, Indiana as Bobby William Shelton. He was born a breech baby, fighting for his life as the doctors untangled the umbilical cord that had wrapped tightly around his neck. When Robert was two years old his parents were divorced, and Robert was sent to live with his biological father, William Claude Shelton in Alabama. From the age of two years old to the age of eight years old, McMurrer was mentally, physically, and sexually abused by his biological father who was later arrested once McMurrer turned eight years old. Robert was then sent to live with his mother, Dawn Marie McMurrer and newly introduced step father, David Lawrence McMurrer in Indianapolis, IN. It was this move that prompted McMurrer to change his name from Bobby William Shelton to Robert Lawrence McMurrer. Though this change in identity places McMurrer on dry land, he was an outcast in school having several jobs starting as a busser at MCL Cafeteria for one year to becoming a warehouse worker at a juice company called Pure Beverage Company at the age of seventeen. McMurrer was from the high school graduating class of 2000 and due to the high amount of pride and support, he and his class were able to get a music artist to perform at their school. The music artist they whom performed was “Vitamin C” who is now known as Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick. It wasn’t until his later employment with Blockbuster Video in Indianapolis, IN where he fell in love with the film industry from there his desire for acting and becoming an actor flourished. McMurrer’s first background acting position in the entertainment industry was in Indiana on a commercial for a cell phone, which he worked on with his stepfather David and younger half brother Brian David McMurrer. When the Dalai Lama visited Indiana in 2000, Robert went to see him with his step father David and half brother Brian. Robert will never forget the feelings he felt when seeing a man who has such power, control and dominance over the masses and do so much good in the world. McMurrer was instantaneously inspired. Though McMurrer had joined the Job Corp and became a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), after a little over six months he felt something was missing and left Indiana headed for Los Angeles. The waves of life hit McMurrer hard, and he spent s short number of years homeless on a road between Arizona and California. Years later, he’s recovered, on his feet, in Los Angeles pursuing his dreams in the entertainment industry, never forgetting the small fights it took to get his here
