Lynn Parsons

Lynn Parsons is a wife, mother, grandmother, educational diagnostician, and writer. She entered the field of special education because two of her four children had special needs.

Lynn received her Bachelor of Independent Studies from BYU, where her thesis was titled “Non-Drug Treatments for Attention Deficit Disorder.” Lynn then became certified as a special education teacher, primarily working with students with Autism. Her classes and teaching methods were featured in “District Administration Magazine”, “Edutopia”, and several web sites on disabilities. After six years of classroom experience, Lynn currently works as an Educational Diagnostician.

Lynn earned a master’s degree in Education and Technology from Walden University. Her collaborative research project, “Using Video to Teach Social Skills to Secondary Students with Autism” was also published by the Council for Exceptional Children. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Northcentral University.

Lynn’s experience as a speaker and presenter includes teacher in-services, presentations on using technology for students with special needs, and community presentations on disability awareness. She was also a community columnist for the “Fort Worth Star-Telegram.”

Lynn grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, but now calls Texas home. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and needlework. After many years of teaching early morning seminary, Lynn is now catching up on missed sleep and working in the Relief Society. She continues to seek out and develop innovative methods for teaching children with special needs.
