Maureen E. Doallas

Maureen E. Doallas is the author of "Neruda's Memoirs: Poems," her debut collection of poetry. An honors graduate of Vassar College, she has been a features writer and editor for scores of years. Her artist interviews have appeared at such venues as The High Calling and her Substack, while periodic guest posts have been published at TweetSpeakPoetry (T.S. Poetry Press), Inner Life (Substack), and elsewhere. For nine years, Maureen edited the "Artist Watch" column for the online arts magazine "Escape Into Life." Most recently, she has curated art exhibitions for her Arlington, Va., parish, St. Michael's Episcopal Church.

Maureen's poems appear in numerous anthologies, among them: "A Constellation of Kisses," "The Strategic Poet," "The Dreamer's Anthology," "Alice of Wonderland Anthology," "Water's Edge," and "Oil and Water... and Other Things That Don't Mix," as well as numerous years of "NOVa Bards" and Local Gems Press and T.S. Poetry Press publications. Online or in print, her work also can be found at Calul Journal, Rattle Poets Respond, Poets Reading the News, The Found Poetry Review (archived; no longer in print), Escape Into Life, Every Day Poems, Broadsided Press, and Poets for Living Waters, among other venues. Maureen's poems have been recorded for episodes at sasradio, Spokane Public Radio, and Red Lion Square (archived), and have been published in several books, including "Bottle trees."

Maureen created, owned, and operated for a number of years a small business, Transformational Threads, which licensed images of original fine art that subsequently were reproduced in custom hand-embroidery in Vietnam and sold in the U.S.

In addition to a deep interest in poetry, Maureen is an art collector who delights in artist and fine press books. She also is a dance, theatre, and music enthusiast.

A resident of Arlington, Virginia, for most of her life, Maureen now lives in Canton, Ohio.
