Tanya Sheehan

Tanya Sheehan is Ellerton M. and Edith K. Jetté Professor of Art at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where she teaches courses on American art, race and representation, and the history of photography. Her research has focused on the intersections between medicine and visual culture, the history of modern art by African Americans, the role that humor plays in ideas about race, and new approaches to photography's historiography. Since 2015 she has served as executive editor of the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Art Journal.
