Born in Hungary, Gergely, a junior student at the University of Agriculture, immigrated to the United States as a refugee of the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Married to the former Ilona Kazinczy-Nagy and have two daughters, who are both married and living in Connecticut.
During the past 25 years he has worked as news correspondent/photographer, publicity writer and editor to several local and regional publications. For three years, he has returned to his native country to teach college level English as a second language and American Studies to business major students.
Along with his news and feature articles, he has published a book on publicity; wrote a script for an award winning educational slide and sound film and directed two musicals.
Gergely was the Public Relations Chair for the United Nations Second Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) Brownsville, TX Town Meeting in 1996. His free lance writing business based in Brownsville, TX, he regularly contributed to the Rio Grande Valley Business, a biweekly regional publication for business, industrial and community leaders in South Texas.
He also wrote a weekly column, Under the Palms, for the Brownsville Herald.
In 2006 he published his first historic novel: THIS FACE BEHIND I HIDE, based on the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Over 600 copies sold from his "car's trunk." It is still available from his home, from Amazon.com and Kindle. It's sequel, THE FOREIGNER is in the developing stage.
