Monica Dougherty

After more than 20 years researching her family history, artist and author Monica Dougherty discovered the story of her ancestors in Ireland during An Gorta Mor, The Great Hunger and also of their connection to tumultuous events in America, the country of their refuge. Rose’s Ring is the culmination of that journey. Her children’s book, You’re A Miracle…Pass it On! was published in 2007 and she is co-author with Mary Beth Sammons of Images of America: Irish American Heritage Center, published by Arcadia Publishing in 2011 and Your Family Story To Go: A How-To Guide For Connecting Your Past, Present and Future Through Story. Monica is also an art therapist. As a long-time volunteer at the Irish American Heritage Center she was a former member of the Irish Heritage Singers and is currently a member of the Cultural Committee and the Planning Committee for iBAM!, an annual event at the Center celebrating Irish Books, Art and Music. Monica lives in Chicago and loves being on a creative journey!.
