Hong Shen

Hong Shen is a partner with the Long An law firm in Beijing and has close to 30 years experience as a lawyer and law professor in China. Hong is also a research fellow with the International Technology Transfer Institute (ITTI), which is part of the Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Before joining the Long An law firm, Hong was a partner with the Zhong Long law firm, in-house counsel and a senior economist for one of China's top state-owned corporations, and was a lecturer at the China University of Political Science and the Law for more than a decade.

Hong's legal practice concentrates on intellectual property (IP), corporate, and commercial law matters. She represents clients in litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters, including in the areas of IP infringement, unfair competition, and commercial law disputes. Hong's IP transactional practice focuses on protecting, licensing, and managing IP in China. Hong represents both Chinese and international companies to help them maximize returns from IP in China. Hong's corporate transactional practice focuses on foreign investment into China, mergers and acquisitions, and facilities arrangements.

Hong graduated from Peking University School of Law in 1983 and was part of the early wave of lawyers to help rebuild China's legal system following the Cultural Revolution. Hong's long experience with classmates and professors from the Peking University Law School in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the students she taught for more than a decade at the China University of Political Science and the Law, the Chinese judges she clerked for, the Chinese attorneys she has worked with, and the clients she has served have all shaped the research and analysis of the book, "Shaping China's Innovation Future: University Technology Transfer in Transition."
