James J. Jochum

Jim Jochum has served as a senior government official in both the U.S. Congress and in the Executive Branch. Mr. Jochum served as International Trade Counsel to U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) and as Counsel to the U.S. Senate Banking Committee. Following his career in the legislative branch, Mr. Jochum was appointed twice by President George W. Bush to lead executive branch agencies within the U.S. Department of Commerce. Mr. Jochum served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for both Import Administration and Export Administration where he oversaw the implementation of U.S. dual use export control laws and U.S. trade remedy laws as applied to imports into the United States. Since leaving the administration, Mr. Jochum has counseled clients on trade regulatory matters and legislative issues as a lawyer in private practice.

Mr. Jochum continues to teach a new generation of leaders in courses focused on U.S. foreign policy, national security and international economics at Georgetown University and American University in Washington, D.C.
