Not for Bill Larkworthy the usual career after qualifying as a doctor at University College Hospital in London over five decades ago - his general and specialist qualifications proved to be a passport to an exciting, worldwide and varied career. A man with a sharp eye for the humorous side of the human condition in fact he had two careers, the first a twenty year stint in the Royal Air Force, the second an equally adventurous and eventful time in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. In a variety of countries he treated the great and the good, the fit and the fat, heroes, villains and an assortment of life's oddballs who enliven the pages of his memoir, 'DOCTOR LARK - the benefits of a medical education.' In his career he knew highs and lows, the zenith when he treated the King of Saudi Arabia (with success) and the nadir, when he fell foul of a crazed Saudi hospital medical director who threw him into jail in Riyadh. And now he has published an ebook on Amazon, 'Sin, Sex,Scandal and Doctoring,' which again reflects his dry humour, his love of history and of writing. He explores the relationship of religion to the sexual mores from the Middle Ages to the Victorian era unearthing discoveries which will surprise, and anecdotes which will tickle, the reader. He also recounts stories of some of his experiences as a young doctor and then chapters stimulated by living in the beautiful part of France to which he has retired, Provence.
