Gilbert Benevides

Gilbert lives in Hawaii with his wife, sons, grandchildren and daughters in law. He was born in 1957 in the small Hawaiian town of Hilo, where he has lived his entire life. His residence, on the outskirts of Hilo, is only 39 miles north of Kilauea Volcano, which has been pumping out lava continuously since 1983, with no signs of letting up.

His poetry reflects the many different sides of a sometimes conflicted soul. Like most everyone he has lived through good and bad times, all of which play a part in the diverse subject matter found in his books of verse.

His novels include a series entitled "Abel Straight Fables", along with other genres, including Fantasy Adventure and contemporary literature.

He is also a painter.

He has intergrated some of his paintings into each of his book covers. The images are based on his original paintings and have been modified slightly to enhance the cover motif.
